Waldo Quiroz is the vice-dean of science faculty of the “Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso” in Chile. He is a member of the Chilean Chemical Society and an active member of the Analytical and Environmental Chemistry Division. He receives his PhD in chemistry from Pau University in France and from the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso, Chile in 2006. He is a full time professor of his alma matter since 2006-to date.
He has directed 3 PhD theses in chemistry and 3 theses of magister in didactics of science. He has published more than 40 ISI papers in analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry and science education. He is author of a book in science philosophy and education titles “Naturaleza de la Ciencia para todos (Nature of science for everyone)” awarded by the National Council of Culture and the Arts of the Government of Chile.
His main lines of research are the ecotoxicology of metalloids and the application of scientific realism to the semantic analysis of scientific concepts
