Víctor Cerdà received his PhD. in Chemistry Sciences in the University of Barcelona. He has been professor at the University of Barcelona, the Rovira i Virgili University in Tarragona and the University of Valladolid. He is currently Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the University of the Balearic Islands since 1982. He has been head of studies at the Rovira i Virgili University, Director of the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the same University, and later the first Director of the Chemistry Department of the UIB, first Director of the Analysis and Testing Laboratory of the UIB, Vice President of the Spanish Society of Analytical Chemistry, and founder and president of the Association of Environmental Sciences and Techniques (AEST). He has also been Vice-Rector of Scientific Policy and Innovation of the UIB and is currently Director of the Laboratory of Environmental Analytical Chemistry of the University. His research has focused on the development of new automatic methods of analysis and their application to the determination of parameters of environmental interest. He is editor, author and / or co-author of 14 books, 13 book chapters, has more than 560 articles published in international journals and about 800 communications in national and international conferences. He has organized 11 scientific congresses and has directed 42 doctoral theses. He has been a researcher responsible for more than 26 research projects since 1985 and a principal investigator of the Analytical Chemistry, Automation and Environment research group.
