Patricia Smichowski obtained her Ph.D. degree in Analytical Chemistry at the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Carmen Cámara. She is Principal Researcher of the Argentine Research Council (CONICET) and Head of the Analytical Developments Division at the Argentine Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA). Her research specializes in the development and application of atomic spectrometric and plasma-based techniques to environmental analysis. She has focused on the determination, preconcentration and speciation analysis of trace metals and metalloids in environmental matrices by employing a variety of analytical and hyphenated techniques. She has participated in national and international projects and has developed several projects funded by the Agency for Science and Technology (Argentina). She is co-author of 117 publications, she has dictated 50 lectures and courses, including plenary and semi-plenary invited lectures in international conferences and she has co-authored 11 book chapters.
