Mariela Pistón PhD, is Associate Professor of the Analytical Chemistry Area in the Faculty of Chemistry of the Universidad de la República (UdelaR), Montevideo, Uruguay.
Research interests: Atomic Spectroscopy, Sample Preparation, Instrumentation and Automation in Analytical Chemistry and Analytical Toxicology.
Currently she leads the research group -Trace element analysis and development of simple strategies for sample preparation (GATPREM).
Over than 40 peer reviewed papers and directed several PhD and MSc thesis, currently with six orientations in progress.
Co-chair in the organization of four editions of the Uruguayan Congress of Analytical Chemistry since 2009 to 2016, one of them was held together with the 5th Iberoamerican Congress of Analytical Chemistry in Montevideo. Member of the International Medical Geology Association (IMGA), “Uruguay Chapter” and delegate of the Faculty of Chemistry to the CODEX- Food Safety, Uruguayan sub-committee. Since 2018 NR of Uruguay as NAO member of the IUPAC Analytical Chemistry Division (V).
